I had a genuinely wonderful and excellent experience working for iA Financial. Management was thoroughly and consistently supportive. Also, there are plenty of opportunities within iA for personal and professional growth. 

A typical day at iA Financial involves client interactions, financial planning, and independent networking for the purpose of sales. I learned valuable communication, analysis, and client management skills. Training and managerial guidance were consistently available, and created a positive workplace culture. The hardest part was generating leads and cold calling/outreach, although this is suited for those that have an established network already. The most enjoyable part was helping clients reach their financial goals, and of course being a member of the iA community. 

I would strongly recommend employment with iA for their holistic outlook in financial services, their drive, and innovation in the industry. Please keep in mind that agent roles are commissions based, so it helps to have many contacts already established in order to generate sales. I have seen a lot of people succeed in roles at iA and those that have succeeded are always willing to share their keys to generating a substantial commission. That being said, it is not for everyone, as you should be organized, independent and committed to your role as a sales agent. 

I am forever grateful for iA, and the workplace culture is the best I have been apart of. The role of insurance agent is suitable if you are comfortable with outreach and have a network of people to sell to already. In other administration roles, I would see it as a superb opportunity as their culture is one of a kind. Thank you kindly.

A typical day at work can go from very slow with little activities to high-stress and high-pressure situations in no time. The lack of structure to one's daily tasks and the fact that you as a self-employed worker must plan your day and manage your own time can be really demotivating. 

I learned that you need to have a plan, or strategy in order to reach certain goals or targets. The job can get very hard if you don't know how to proceed and where your business is heading. I've also learned that it is important to find serious clients who are on the same page as you. Providing financial services to someone who isn't sure what they want or why they need your help, only means that it's going to be that much harder to keep that client for a long-term period.

Management is good. They are there to guide us (Financial Advisors) through the steps on being successful and keeping us on track in terms of continuous business and finding leads. That being said, they aren't very helpful in helping an advisor who is struggling. A great way to put it is that they are "fair weather management": very helpful and present when you're performing well, and almost invisible when you're not.

The typical day of work can be a bit chaotic  and confusing because the workflow and priorities can change suddenly and without warning.

Mangement is pretty much absent except one time a month. They take rash and/or poorly explained and poorly thougt out big decision without warning nor consulting from the employees.
They create some team without giving them really clear objectives and responsabilites.
IT is not really seen well by the rest of the departement.
The it managers don't really understand or care about the reality of the it employees.
There is a mid-year performance review and annual review. There's a lot of SILOS and not a lot of cooperation and communication between the various departement wich can make the job hard and confusing. There's even some rivalry and uncheck bad blood between two departement.
The compagny promote charity wich is nice and personnal fitness and it has a really free gym for the employees.

• Receiving all incoming mail including letters, reports and written comments from personal investors, individuals & Consultants Companies and forwarding or answering on behalf of GM.
• Responsible for providing high standards of office support for the general Manager and arranging meetings.
• Preparation of Minutes of meetings (Daily/Weekly/Monthly)
management Reports, etc. Preparation of Expenses claim & Local purchase Orders (LPO).
• Maintaining the General Manager’s Agenda, Travel Schedule, Hotel Booking and registration and filing system including all correspondence and reports.
• Typing/organizing all Department Correspondence, Letters, Presentations, Contract Agreements, Minutes of Meetings, Carrying out other secretarial duties such as preparing bookings, leave/duty forms, maintaining, and preparing requisitions and purchase orders as necessary.

My review is only for a specific part/office of this company.  There is always the possibility that other offices are different (better/worse).

In general I really liked working there.  My co-workers were very nice and friendly.  The Regional Manager of the office is a super nice guy and very understanding.  Unfortunately he was not my direct manager.  The lady who was in charge of us ladies was a little tougher.  Lets just say she's "old school".  Something one had to get used to (or not and feel awful going into work or leave the job).

However, when something was up you don't get much support.  You may complain but it either does nothing or backfires.  Since everyone knows about this, no one ever says anything...... really too bad because otherwise I would have NEVER left the office.

very nice place to do a career but didn't match my goals and i just did my stage with them for one month 
they asked me to work with them but i had a problem with the way of payment so i decided to not take my chance 
in the stage days i did to many calls because i worked in the telemarketing i have taken 6 appointments for the financial advisers 
and i did long shifts with no stop 
once i had a long phone call for like one hour with a client to make him accept the deal and take the appointment in the end he accepted and he gave us an appointment 
i have added a new way of work to the telemarketing so a have noticed that some people ask us to contact with them by email and send them all the offers and they wanted to keep contact with the same person 
so i asked the director and i told him my point so he accepted and we started doing that

Most of IA's Vancouver operations will eventually move to its QC headquarters. It is an insurance industry, so it'll happen at a sloth's pace. It's no surprise that its culture has been morphing for the last few years, from that of a close family unit to a dysfunctional one with politics and drama. So if you're looking for a workplace that is joyful and effective, keep looking. IA is not set up to deliver happiness which has a direct effect of increasing productivity. It's also an insurance company that's being run the old-school way of not having a platform to provide most employees with opportunities to solve huge problems. 

For the majority, the pay is on par with bank employees. But IA tries to compensate with benefits such as stock purchase and subsidized cafeteria food.

Very good team environment. Very supportive colleagues and managers. Some technologies are a bit outdated but management recognized this ya d trying to minimize work on it focusing yon new development.
This is purely MS shop with dot NET and major front end libraries in use.
This is a very large corporation with its pros and cons. Heavy dependant on headquarters in Quebec.
